I have started a new website and planning to promote it and have a whole lot of things to take care of. I am wondering whether is worth it to invest time in SEO or pursue some other marketing strategy.

No, it won’t. As long as folks search for stuff, search engines will exist, and they’ll only make money based on the quality of their results. SEO is all about discoverability. That’s what it sells. And people have always valued discoverability. Even if search engines change to the point that we don’t even recognize them, there’ll still be some form of SEO.

Some ask Will SEO die? , and some say, SEO is dead already. SEO won’t die but keep evolving, it has evolved already much different from where it started from, and in future, it would be much more different from its current form.

SEO will not die as long as the Internet and search engines continue to exist.

Yes, artificial promotion of websites just to create SEO value is long dead. But Natural linking and getting good traffic combined is the best thing to happen in SEO and it shall continue to rule SEO for some time.

What is SEO for? To get high ranking on Search engine. Right?
Now, if SEO will die, how Google and other search engines determine which pages to rank on the first page or wherever.
It will never die. But, yeah the way it is done might change. As Google is constantly updating its algorithm, there will always be a change in how SEO should be done to get to the first page of Google.
